Why I'm Learning to Code with AI (Cursor + ChatGPT Changed the Game)

Published: May 15, 2025

As someone without a traditional coding background, I never thought I'd be building websites, apps, or digital tools. But with the rise of AI-powered coding assistants like ChatGPT and Cursor, everything has changed. Today, learning to code is no longer about memorizing syntax — it's about thinking creatively, problem-solving, and building real things fast.

This is why I'm learning to code in 2025 — and why AI is my co-pilot on this journey.

Why I Chose AI Tools to Learn Coding

I didn't go to school for computer science. I studied entrepreneurship and business. But I quickly realized:

"Every great idea today needs a digital layer — whether that's a website, an app, or a tool."

So I turned to AI-assisted coding tools like:

  • Cursor: an AI-native code editor that helps me write and understand code
  • ChatGPT: my on-demand tutor, debugger, and brainstorm assistant

Together, they helped me go from zero to launching a live, multi-page personal website without prior experience.

What I've Built (So Far)

With just these tools, I've launched:

  • ✅ A clean, modern portfolio website
  • ✅ A dynamic golf course review page with lightbox images
  • ✅ An accordion-style travel section
  • ✅ A blog with a working comment system

It Handles SEO, Performance, and Mobile Too

AI helps ensure my site loads fast, looks good on phones, and follows modern best practices — all without hiring a developer.

The End Goal: Builder, Not Just Coder

I'm learning to code not to be a full-time dev, but to build and launch things quickly. AI makes that possible.

Tools I Recommend

Final Thoughts

If you're like me — a creator or entrepreneur — now is the best time to start. You don't need to become a full-stack engineer. You just need to build.

And with tools like Cursor and ChatGPT, you never build alone.
